Thousands of flamingos travel to Indian lake after coronavirus lockdown causes cleaner air

A video showing as many as 150,000 flamingos that have migrated from far and wide to a body of water in Navi Mumbai has been shared online. Local residents say they have not seen this many of the birds in years. Environmentalists have suggested that the coronavirus lockdown that currently has India's 1.3 billion strong population staying at home has improved the quality of the air and water, encouraging more of the flamingos to make the long journey from other parts of the country, including Gujarat and Rajasthan, and sometimes even as far away as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Israel.
